SS Tailchaser Official News
The Tailchaser is moving to Fridays, 9:00-10:30 pm Eastern Time, effective immediately. The next 'Chaser sim will be 11 June 2004. We've got plans for an exciting, active sim, and plenty of posts available for visitors and new members alike.

SS Tailchaser Official News
Effective, well, immediately, the Tailchaser is a dual sim. The chat sim will continue at its current time and place, and will be supplemented and complemented by a bulletin board sim.
The two sims will both be in the same ship, same characters, and same storyline, but will not be simultaneous in the timeline. Each sim's mission, as it is completed, will be added to the chronological timeline.
Further information will be included in the "BB SIM Info" topic. If you have any questions, ask them there, and I'll answer.

SS Tailchaser Official News
The Tailchaser Website is undergoing some major work.
First of all, we've got a new look and feel coming... but that's on the back burner after all the other functionality we're adding.
Some of the new features:
- Starting up the BB side of the sim, to be hosted on the Tailchaser website. (Until it's up and running, the BB sim will be on the RFSG bulletin Boards)
- The home page is going to have new content, including a blurb about the current mission and a section for players to log into the website.
- A new "join" page, with information about both sides of the sim, and an actual web application.
- The current mission briefings and Command errata for both sides of the sim.
- Current rules, policies, procedures, and protocols for both sides of the sim.
- Meaning, an updated playbook for the Chat sim, and an all new playbook for the BB sim.
- New Roster format
- New Biographical file system, including Current and former Player characters, Non player characters, and Players.
- Also in the new Bio file system: a control panel for players that lets them, when logged in, update their bio file information for their players or their characters.
- Yes, that's right: a bio for not just the Character, but also the Player (at the player's option, of course)
- New content for Tailchaser Awards and Ranks.
And, some things that have been long absent from the site:
- Detailed history for the sim
- Detailed information about aliens, places, and technology encountered in our sims, from the beginning.
- Archives of chat sims.
Why all this nifty new stuff, you ask? Good question. I wanted to use some of the features of my server to lighten the workload related to managing the site--mainly the roster and biographical files. In the process of learning to use PHP and MySQL (and a bit of Javascript), I decided, "Hey, this is pretty cool, and pretty easy, too! I could use this for all sorts of stuff in the website!" And that was that.
So, that's the plan. I'll note which things are done as I get them done.

I will be out of action until 4 Feb 05. There will be no Tailchaser sims for this period. The sim will most likely resume 11 Feb 05.
